With an uncluttered and clean interface, the tool is easy to navigate. When it comes to design and simplicity, Picasa is a nicely developed program. Whenever a new image is added to the PC, the tool adds it to your photo album. With Picasa, images can be accessed through a visually rich timeline view. Moreover, Picasa lets you assign keywords to each image, making it easier to browse through your digital library. It allows you to improve digital photos without having to install another application. Picasa offers some of the most common editing features, such as rotate, red-eye removal, crop, color correction, and touch-ups. With Picasa web, you can export photos to third-party apps online. Similarly, you can email and print photos within a couple of clicks. For instance, you can use the program to create slideshows, which can be ideal for presentations and meetings. While it’s not as powerful as Adobe Photoshop, the tool comes with a wide range of subtle editing features. Can you improve digital photos with Picasa?Īpart from the organisation capabilities, Picasa can be used to improve and enhance photos. The primary focus of the tool is organisation of digital photos, which comes in handy for people with a huge collection scattered across the hard disk. As such, it prompts you to copy relevant files to the system. Unlike FastStone Image Viewer and other such programs, Picasa can detect when a card reader or camera gets attached to the PC. These files are also automatically added to the program’s database, saving a lot of your time spent on manually adding photos to an image viewer or storage option. Once all the files have been identified, the program automatically organises each file in a chronological order, depending on the creation date.Īdditionally, Picasa uses a proprietary auto-discovery engine, which detects whenever you copy new images to the PC. Since the image viewer supports multiple file formats, it doesn’t leave anything behind. Once you download and install Picasa, it searches your entire hard disk to find camera movie files, pictures, and other relevant files. The perfect organiser for digital photos! Moreover, it automatically generates large-sized thumbnails of each image, allowing you to identify photos without much trouble. With Picasa, it’s possible to quickly browse through a huge collection of images on your system. As such, you can use the program to make subtle improvements to your photos. It comes with additional features, such as red-eye removal, cropping, slideshow, and keyword search. With this tool, you can conveniently organise and manage digital photos on your Windows PC. Unfortunately it forgets this as soon as I close XY and open it again later.Picasa is one of the most popular image viewing and storage programs in the world. So the process of just opening Win Explorer in the background and pasting in the folder path seems to do something that tells XY to use the correct sort order of name>ascending. Even though I've specified sort order for all folders and sub folders as name>ascending.īut if I then open Win Explorer and just copy the folder path from XY and paste it into Win Explorer (and not even do anything else) when I now open the photo again from XY, it's now in the correct sort order. But if I use XY, it's got a weird sorting order (don't know if it's date created/modified or something). And if I open the 1st photo in a folder from Win Explorer, it correctly appears as the 1st sorted image in Picasa. The only problem is it doesn't respect my specified sort order if I open an image from XY.Īll my photos are sorted in exactly the same way in both Win Explorer and XY, i.e. I know it's been discontinued by Google but I still use Picasa photo viewer, just because it works perfectly for what I need.
